Peru State Looking for More Energy and Focus vs. Graceland Tonight

PERU, Neb. – Peru State College Volleyball Coach Laurie Schroeder would like to see more consistent energy and focus in their match with Graceland tonight at the Al Wheeler Activities Center in Peru.

The Bobcats finished 1-3 at the Evangel University Classic Friday and Saturday in Springfield, MO. Schroeder says her team had great mental focus in their upset win of previously unbeaten John Brown University (3-2), but when certain rotations began to trail in the final three matches, the ‘Cats struggled to regain their focus.

Peru State (4-7) went back to their mental focus training exercises with a trained professional this week to help prepare them for tonight’s match-up with Graceland (5-6, 0-2).

The Yellowjackets struggle with ball control, hit a lot of balls off the 10-foot line and tend to go to their outside hitters a lot, according to Schroeder.

“We need to maintain that net control, just like usual. You can see during our match vs. Tabor, we didn’t have as many blocks and I feel like that really helped us out against William Penn and Mount Mercy. Just need to maintain that net control and we’ll be just fine.”

Coverage of Graceland at Peru State begins at 6:40 and will air on KNCY 1600 AM, 105.5 FM and ncn21.com.
