FALLS CITY – They were 11 seconds away from going to the state championship a year ago, but BDS made sure not to allow Falls City Sacred Heart any chance at the end of the game today.
The Eagles would outscore the Irish, 23-8 in the second half to get a 23-14 victory and defeat the defending state champions.
Christian Harring had the lone touchdown in the first half with a two yard score in the first quarter for Sacred Heart. With the missed two point conversion, the Irish would lead 6-0 at the half.
It was the arm of John Christensen that allowed the Eagles offense to get going. He would complete touchdown passes of 20 and 58 yards in the second half to help the Eagles offense get over the top.
Christensen finished with 190 total yards and two touchdowns to help BDS improve to 6-0. Caden Norder also finished with 69 yards receiving and at touchdown.
Sacred Heart was led by Drew Bippes. The Junior quarterback finished with 124 total yards and a touchdown pass to Jake Hoy. The Irish finished with 216 yards of offense. They fall to 5-1.
Next week, BDS hosts Meridian, while Sacred Heart travels to Pawnee City.
