COLUMBUS – Not even a week out from setting a school record, Chase Andresen has singed his letter of intent to pole vault in college.
Andresen will be heading to Midland University, where he will compete for the Warrior’s track and field team. Andresen, a Senior at Scotus Central Catholic, recently set the school vault record, with a jump of 14’01” at the Blue Devil Invite.
“It’s kind of surreal I guess. Leaving Scotus is going to be kind of hard, but going on to college and participating in track is going to be awesome, and I’m really ready for it,” says Andresen. “I love the coach [at Midland], the coach is awesome. He’s honestly probably the biggest reason, but I mean the campus is pretty cool. It feels at home for me.”
Midland Track and Field Coach Mark Kostek says Andresen was a great signee for the college, as they continue to strive for excellence.
“Chase is a young man that brings a lot of character, as well as good athletic and academic abilities. So we feel he is going to be highly successful as a student athlete, and that’s something that we’re always interested in,” says Kostek.
Andresen says he is still deciding what to study in college, but says he is currently thinking either business or exercise science.
