FAIRBURY – The Nebraska American Legion Juniors Area Baseball Tournaments begin this weekend across the state.
Fairbury is hosting the Area B-4 Tournament at Quinn City Park. Eight teams are competing for the Area B-4 Tournament Championship to advance to the Class-B Juniors State Tournament in Columbus.
Top-seed Central City and 8th seed Aurora opens the first-round Friday at noon, before 4th seed Beatrice takes the field against 5th seed Crete at 2:30 Friday afternoon.
3rd seed York battles 6th seed Seward in the third game of the opening round at five Friday evening, before the 2nd seed Fairbury Land Sharks play 7th seed Fairfield at 7:30 PM.
In the Area C-4 Juniors Tournament at David City, Wilber earned the top-seed and a first round bye, while 2nd seed Tri-County plays 7th seed Wymore in the opening round Friday afternoon at four.
In the Area C-3 Juniors Tournament at Silver Creek, 3rd seed Bruning-Davenport-Shickley and 4th seed Tecumseh open first-round action at one Friday afternoon, before 5th seed Hebron plays 2nd seed St. Paul at four P.M.
6th seed Adams-Sterling takes the field at seven Friday night against top-seed Twin River.
The double-elimination American Legion Juniors Area Baseball Tournaments are scheduled to run through Tuesday, July 10th.
