OMAHA, Neb. – Thanks to a strong defense and several big plays, the Boone Central/Newman Grove Cardinals defeated Boys Town on Friday.
Boone Central/Newman Grove won 19-9 with QB Dylan Grentrup throwing and running for one touchdown in the game played in Omaha.
The touchdown pass came in the second half on fourth down, with Gentrup throwing across the field with heavy pressure for the five-yard completion to Ethan Dozler.
Levi Krueger of BC/NG also scored to put the game at 12-0 in the first quarter.
Boys Town grabbed their points in the second quarter, with a safety, and a 35-yard touchdown run by star RB Dashawn Bates Jr. to put the score at 12-9 heading into halftime.
The Cardinals will host Pierce next Friday in the Class C1 semifinals.
