HOWELLS, NE — Dylan Horejsi ran for over 200 yards and #2 Howells-Dodge moved past #7 Lourdes Central Catholic 54-32 on Wednesday night.
The Jaguars defense complimented Horejsi’s great game by collecting four interceptions. Jon Yosten picked off Lourdes QB’s three times and returned one for a touchdown.
Howells-Dodge established themselves on the first drive of the game. Horejsi punched in a 28-yard touchdown and converted the two-point conversion.
Lourdes Central Catholic responded with a score of their own. Quarterback Thomas Ragland threw a third down pass across the width of the field to running back James Mason who scampered in for a 38 yard touchdown to make it 8-6.
Then the Jaguars took over. They forced two interceptions and built a 30-6 lead with under 30 seconds to go until the break. Then, the Knights drove 40 yards and scored on a three yard pass to Andrew Aldana to make it 30-12 at halftime.
Horejsi busted the game open in the third quarter. He took the Jaguars’ first offensive play of the half 71 yards for a touchdown and the Jaguars didn’t look back. The junior finished the game with 210 yards and four touchdowns.
Howells-Dodge will face #11 Johnson-Brock in the quarterfinals. This equals the deepest trip in the playoffs for the Jaguars since the schools consolidates.
