JOHNSON, Neb. – In early October, working with a 2-4 record, the Johnson-Brock football team was wondering if they would even make the postseason. But after winning their last two regular season games, and picking up wins over #6 Heartland and #14 Pender, the Eagles find themselves in the quarterfinals of the Class D1 playoffs.

#11 Johnson-Brock (6-4) travels to Howells on Tuesday to play #2 Howells-Dodge (10-0) at 5 p.m. The Jaguars defeated Lourdes Central Catholic on Wednesday, 54-32.

Eagles Head Coach Mitch Roberts says the key to the game will be at the line of scrimmage, similar to their first round win over Heartland. Like their game against the Huskies, the Eagles offensive and defensive lines will get another good challenge at Howells-Dodge.

“They’re playing really well as a unit right now. We kind of threw in a new formation where we can move some guys around. Our four guys up front, they’re clicking right now. It’s a great thing when it’s working and they open holes. They set up our offense for a lot of big plays.”

Johnson-Brock’s offensive line helps pave the way for the Eagles to average 202.4 yards per game passing and 138.6 yards rushing a game.
