HUMBOLDT – Johnson County Central placed four golfers in the top-ten and captured the HTRS Invite on Tuesday in Humboldt.

The Thunderbirds were led by Tyler Bartels runner-up finish. He shot an 80 for the day. Bartels was followed by Kole Kleespies (3rd – 83), Tanner Kerner (4th – 85) and Eli Waring (6th – 88). They shot a team total of 336.

“The openness of the course played to our benefit today,” JCC Head Coach Ben Swanson said. “Shots out of the fairways aren’t penalized as much at this course and golfers can still get a good second shot at the green.  However, the guys did improve their accuracy of their chipping and made more putts compared to their first tournament of the year.”

Falls City golfer Braden Oliver claimed the individual title, shooting a 76.

Team Scoring:  JCC 336, Southern 372, Falls City 373, Auburn 393, HTRS 435, Centennial 447, Pawnee City NS, Lewiston NS
