AUBURN – Josh Lambert went 1-3 at the plate, including a double, and scored two runs in Auburn’s 6-1 victory over their southeast Nebraska rivals, Falls City, Thursday at Tushla Field in Auburn.
The 6’5″ junior scored the game’s first run in the second after hitting a lead-off double on a 2-0 count. Freshman Weston Reiman hit a sac fly on the very next pitch to drive Lambert in. Reiman also had a double in the game. Senior Zach Dickerson contributed a double and a run scored. The Bulldogs finished with five total hits.
Senior Jon Kinnaman earned the win on the mound. He threw a complete game, seven innings, gave up one run on five hits and struck out eight. His defense only gave up one error.
The win evens the season series at one apiece. The Tigers defeated Auburn, 11-1, on March 27.
Sophomore Zach Beaver was tagged for the loss. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowed six runs on eight hits and stuck out four. Junior Chaydyn Butler added one and one-third innings of relief, striking out two.
Butler went 2-3 at the plate with a double and a run scored. Falls City left 9 men on base and committed four errors.
Auburn improves to 5-2 and will host Central City/Fullerton (2-2) Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
Falls City drops their second-straight game and fall to 4-6. They are scheduled to travel to Bishop LeBlond, MO on Saturday.
