Lourdes coaches digging for more “passion”

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – The Lourdes Central Catholic girls basketball team struggled with turnovers and rebounds in Tuesday’s, 55-26, loss to Class D2 #4 Falls City Sacred Heart at Lourdes High School.

Head coach Clay Carlton felt good about their chances before the game, but credits the Irish for their execution. He says he was disappointed with the lack of passion from the Knights.

“Getting after it, wanting it more than the girl across from you. Getting a body on someone and just doing it every time. It can’t be one out of four times we go rebound and really get after it. It’s got to be every time.”

He says it is something they will figure out as the season goes on with players adjusting to new roles. Lourdes lost Laura Box, Libby Fulton and Maggie Funke to graduation last May.

Nebraska City Lourdes hosts HTRS (1-2) Friday night at Lourdes Central Catholic High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. and can be heard on B103 (103.1 FM and b103.fm).
