Ty Hahn scores 28 points as Johnson-Brock pulls away in third quarter

LINCOLN – The Johnson-Brock boys basketball team used a 20-3 run in the third quarter to break a halftime tie and explode to a 67-57 win over Humphrey St. Francis Thursday morning in the Class D2 quarterfinals at Lincoln Northeast High School.

The Eagles big third quarter was sparked by junior Ty Hahn who hit a pair of 3-pointers to start a series of four possessions each ending with a triple, including a shot from sophomore Kaden Glynn between the three-point line and half court.

Hahn finished with 28 points and 7 rebounds. Glynn added 14.

No. 5 Johnson-Brock (22-4) held the Flyers (22-5) to 1-14 from the field in the third quarter. St. Francis never got closer than 10 points the rest of the game.

The third quarter followed a dismal first half for the Eagles where they turned the ball over 18 times, including 11 steals by the Flyers.

Johnson-Brock advances to the semi-finals for the second straight season and will play top seed Falls City Sacred Heart Friday at 7 p.m. at Bob Devaney Sports Center. News Channel Nebraska will carry the game live on Today’s Best Country, B103 (103.1 FM, b103.fm).

The Eagles, who are making their eighth state appearance in school history, lost to Lourdes Central Catholic in the Class D1 semi-finals a season ago.
