Westenburg Eclipses 3,000 Assists Mark as Johnson-Brock Advances to Semi-Finals

LINCOLN, Neb. – Senior setter Brynn Westenburg finished with 37 assists and the second seed Johnson-Brock volleyball team swept #7 Bertrand, 25-19, 25-9, 25-17 (3-0), in the first round of the 2017 Class D1 State Volleyball Tournament at Lincoln East High School.

Westenburg, who broke the Class D1 state record for career assists earlier this season, surpassed the 3,000 career assists mark in Thursday’s win. Her top target was 6’1″ junior Fallon Stutheit. The Nebraska volleyball recruit finished with 19 kills.

Johnson-Brock (32-1) will square-off against #3 BDS (27-5) at 9 a.m. Friday at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. The Eagles are looking to secure their third-straight state title.
