Thornabar Named Defensive MVP of 8-Man All-Star Game

HASTINGS – LeShaun Thornabar made sure his last eight-man football game was a good one.

The Elm Creek product was named the West Team’s Defensive MVP of the 40th Annual Sertoma 8-Man All-Star Game at Hastings College on Saturday night.

Thornabar helped propel his team to a 38-20 victory over the East with two sacks and a blocked punt.

Burwell’s Tyler Giddeon also had a good performance. The former Longhorn led the West team with four receptions for 43 yards, including a six-yard score in the third quarter.

Jacey Nutter was named the West Offensive MVP. The of Sandhills-Thedford product ran for 72 yards and passed for 66 yards and two TD’s.

Creighton’s Ryan Neumann earned Offensive MVP honors for the East team by rushing for 27 yards and two scores. Bradley Bunner of Clarkson-Leigh totaled 21 tackles to be named Defensive MVP to the East.
