Doane’s Haddix Center installing video boards

CRETE – The Haddix Recreation and Athletic Center at Doane University will have new video boards for the upcoming basketball season. Installation for these boards began about a week ago, and should be completed by next week.

Doane men’s basketball head coach Ian McKeithen, who’s entering his third season as the Tigers’ head coach, is excited for the change, but knows it’ll be an adjustment.

“We’re excited to get these (video boards) kind of finalized here this week,” McKeithen said. “As an athletic department, we’ll get used to having these boards, because it’s a big change from using regular score boards to now video boards which double as scoreboards.

“It’s something that will bring a lot of entertainment value to our games, and highlight things for our players and recruits as well.”

The Haddix Center will also get new shot clocks that match the timing of the new video boards.

The Tigers’ men’s basketball team opens its season in Crete at the Haddix Center on Friday, Oct. 26 when they host Dakota State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

The Tigers’ women’s team opens its season the previous night, Oct. 25, at home against Kansas Wesleyan. That game will tip off at 7 p.m. as well.

The Haddix Center has been the home for Doane basketball since October 2010.
