Four area wrestlers, two area coaches qualify for 2019 NSWCA All-Star Duals at Grand Island in June

The Nebraska Scholastic Wrestling Coaches’ Association announced on Monday all of the qualifiers and coaches for the 2019 NSWCA All-Star Dual, which takes place on June 8 at Grand Island High School.

Four area wrestlers will be competing in these duals. Fairbury’s Ace York, Beatrice’s Tanner York, along with Keegan Casey and Damian Stewart from Thayer Central, all qualified.

All four of these guys medaled in the top five of their respective weight class at the state meet back in February.

Ace and Tanner York each finished 3rd. Casey medaled 4th, and Stewart 6th. The wrestlers were selected from the nominations submitted by NSWCA member coaches.

As for the coaches who qualified, Fairbury’s Derek Garfield was selected as a coach for the all-star event for the second year in a row.

Beatrice head wrestling coach Jordan Johnson will be going as well.

The wrestlers will be paired up after weigh-ins on Wednesday, June 6. They’ll all be announced at the Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday evening at 5 p.m. at Borders Inn and Suites in Grand Island.

The start time for the dual will be at 11:00 a.m.
