Zwingman Signs With UNK Football

COLUMBUS – A Columbus Discoverer will be heading west next season to become a Loper.

Columbus High senior Carson Zwingman signed his letter of intent Monday to play football at the University of Nebraska Kearney. Zwingman participated in both football and wrestling at Columbus, and will be competing in the NSAA State Wrestling Championship this weekend.

Zwingman says that he was always planning on going to UNK, but that the decision to pursue either football or wrestling was a much harder one to make. In the end, Zwingman says that he’s wanted to play college football since he was a kid, and that he wanted to be a part of the Lopers’ football team as they continue to build it up.

As Zwingman prepares to compete in the Individual State Wrestling Championships this weekend, he says that he wanted to get the signing done early in the week so he could focus on the task at hand. Zwingman will compete in the Class A182 Championship, and will go against Omaha Central senior Ka’ron Davis in the first round.

As part of the Discoverer football team, Zwingman was an all-state Honorable Mention in 2017 and 2018, was named to the Class A-5 all-district team in 2018, and was named the 2018 CHS most outstanding player.
