22-0 Run Sparks Boyd County to Win Over Wausa

SPENCER – The Wausa girls basketball team found out Saturday how quickly a snowball can turn into an avalanche.

A couple early turnover turned sparked an extended run for Boyd County, turning what had been a competitive game into a blowout, as the Spartans topped the Vikings 55-20.

After opening up a 10-8 lead in the first quarter, Boyd County scored the next 22 points, a run that extended for the entirety of the 2nd quarter and into the 3rd.

Turnovers were a big part of the Spartan attack. Boyd County forced 27 turnovers on Wausa, while only committing 10 themselves.

Wausa also spent most of the game without the services of senior post player Megan Kleinschmit, who started the game despite an ankle injury, but did not finish.

Boyd County (2-0) next travels to Osmond, while Wausa (0-2) next takes on Creighton.
