HASTINGS — The Adams Central boys basketball team hit seven three-pointers in the first half to dismiss Holdrege 56-41 for their first win of the season.
The Patriots scored the first eight points of the game to set the tone. They carried a 15-9 lead to the second quarter when they stepped on the gas. Adams Central put up 19 points in the second quarter to double up the Dusters at halftime 34-17.
Nolan Sughroue led the Patriots (1-1) in scoring with 12 points while 6’9” sophomore Haggan Hilgendorf chipped in 10 points. Thomas Hunt added another 10 while freshman Cameron Foster scored eight points coming off the bench.
Trevor Matousek led scored 17 in a losing effort for Holdrege (0-1). Charles Weed had a solid effort with seven points but missed much of the second half after getting hit in the nose.
