Boyd County’s Run and Gun Too Much For Wausa

SPENCER – Playing at an almost break-neck pace for the entirety of the game, Boyd County held off upset-minded Wausa Saturday night, 69-50.

The Spartans extended their early lead by nailing shots from the outside, draining six three-pointers in the first half.

Then, after Wausa adjusted in the second half and began closing out better, Boyd County readjusted their offense, taking advantage of lanes with crisp passing to pull away late.

Wausa also struggled to find balance offensively, as their 50 points were split up among just four players. No one on the Vikings’ bench scored.

Boyd County (2-0) will try to stay unbeaten Tuesday against Osmond, while Wausa (1-1) next faces Creighton.
