Chapple surpasses 1,000 career points in Falls City’s win over Ashland-Greenwood

AUBURN, Neb. – The Falls City boys basketball team had three players in double figures and the Tigers defeated Ashland-Greenwood, 67-43, in the Southeast Nebraska Shootout Tuesday at Auburn High School.

Senior Brandt Chapple had a game-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. His effort put him over the 1,000 career points plateau. He now sits at 1,004 for his career.

Jake Craig also had a double-double, 11 points and 10 rebounds. Rudy Vrtiska chipped in 14 points.

“We played good at times,” Tigers Head Coach Don Hogue said. “It has been a strange holiday break. We take five days off (NSAA mandatory winter moratorium), play three games in-a-row, and then take two days off and play another game.”

Ashland-Greenwood was led by Bryce Kitrell, Jacob Ludwig and Toby Welling. They each finished with eight points.

Falls City improves to 7-4 this season and will travel to Johnson on Thursday to play Johnson-Brock.
