District golf roundup: Nebraska City’s Bohlen claims district crown; Syracuse going to state in Class C

LINCOLN – Nebraska City sophomore golfer Brynn Bohlen shot an 88 to win the Class B-1 District Golf Tournament Monday at Crooked Creek Golf Course in Lincoln.

Bohlen was the lone golfer for the Pioneers to qualify for the Nebraska School Activities Association State Golf Tournament. The Class B tournament will be held at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus on Oct. 8-9.

Omaha Gross Catholic sophomore Bridget Nothelfer finished as the district runner-up with a 90 and sophomore teammate Sarah Wilson finished third by shooting a 93. Gross finished second as a team.

Beatrice claimed the team title by shooting a 390. They were led by the fourth place finish from junior Sydney Southwick.


Syracuse finishes third, qualifies as a team in Class C

LINCOLN – Senior Lily Kastens finished in a tie for 10th place with a 103 and the Syracuse golf team qualified for the Class C State Tournament by ending in third place Monday at the C-1 District Tournament at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lincoln.

The Rockets shot a team total of 434 and finished behind champions Lincoln Lutheran (387) and runner-up Lincoln Lutheran (391).

Other Syracuse team members are Jennifer Daharsh, Shaylee Staack, Caitlyn Carlson and Kirsten Bischoff.

The NSAA Class C State Tournament will be held at River’s Edge Golf Course in North Platte next Monday and Tuesday.
