Early Threes Lift Ponca Over BRLD

LINCOLN — The Ponca Indians hit six three-pointers in the first quarter and defeated BRLD 50-33 to reach the Class C-2 Championship game.

Carter Kingsbury hit four of the early three-balls while Max Masin chipped in the other two and Ponca (29-1) led 22-13 after the first eight minutes.  BRLD (25-3) managed to keep it from becoming a blowout, keeping the deficit at 10 points at halftime.  But, the Wolverines couldn’t generate enough offense.  BRLD managed just 13 points in the second half.

Ponca will play Hastings St. Cecilia in the championship game to try to secure back-to-back titles.

BRLD will play Yutan in the third place game.
