Football all-star game to feature area athletes

KEARNEY – Noah Meneses, of Plattsmouth, Palmyra’s Drew Bessey, and Caleb Marlatt, of Elmwood-Murdock, will be a part of Nebraska’s prestigious all-star high school senior football game this summer.

The 60th Annual Nebraska Shrine Bowl will be played on June 2nd at Ron and Carol Cope Stadium on the campus of the University of Nebraska – Kearney. Kickoff will be at 2:00 pm.

Meneses played middle linebacker and tackle for the Blue Devils. The 6’4″ 240 senior finished with 68 tackles, including 5 sacks. He also caused three fumbles and recovered one fumble. Meneses has signed to play football at Washburn University.

Bessey finished his senior season with 36 receptions for 849 yards and 7 touchdowns. The 6’0″ 170 pounder also had 38 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery for the Panthers.

Marlatt, who won’t play in the game this summer due to an injury, had 36 tackles, 2 sacks and a blocked field goal during his senior season with the Knights.
