Home Federal Pitching Dominates in Doubleheader Sweep Over Columbus
Home Federal improves to 28-7 on the season after an undefeated weekend.

GRAND ISLAND – The Columbus bats didn’t have an answer for Home Federal’s best pitching performance of the summer.

Shay Schanaman and Matt Lamb each pitched compete game shutouts combining for 24 strikeouts while allowing just two hits on the night.

Schanaman pitched his first career no-hitter in the first game as part of a 10-0 victory over Cornerstone Insurance. The Husker commit sat down a career-high 14 batters while also going 3-for-4 at the plate and knocking in two runs. Matt Lamb (3-for-4, 3 R, 2 RBI) and Will Nordhues (2-for-4, R, RBI) also had big nights at the plate.

It was going to be hard to top Schanaman’s performance in the first game but Matt Lamb came close in an 8-0 victory in the second contest. Lamb struck out 9 batters and gave up two hits in the game that lasted six innings. Schanaman went 2-for-4 at the plate, including a triple, and drove in a run. Ryan Krolikowski finished 2-for-2 and went yard on a solo shot over center field in the bottom of the fifth. Casey Burnham also drove in two runs while going 1-for-2 in the game.

Alex Uhlig (1-for-3) and Jacob Morse (1-for-2) grabbed the hits for Columbus in the second contest.
