Home Federal Routs Norfolk to Open Area Tournament

SOUTH SIOUX CITY – Home Federal has flexed its muscle to open postseason play.

The Grand Island seniors kicked off the Area 6 Tournament with a 16-0 victory over Norfolk at Klasey Park on Friday afternoon.

Matt Lamb (2-for-6, 3 R, 3 RBI) made the most of his two hits, both being home runs. Ryan Krolikowski (2-for-3, 4 R, RBI, BB), and Vann Stevenson (2-for-3, R, 3 RBI, BB) also had multiple hits in the win. Gage Rose (1-for-3, RBI) notched a triple.

It was a complete staff effort on the mound for Home Federal. Shay Shanaman pitched the opening two innings with Lamb, Casey Burnham, Tyler Sextro, and Bryce Williams all pitching in relief and allowing six hits total.

Grand Island will face the loser of South Sioux City/Fremont at 4 PM on Saturday.
