HASTINGS – A Norfolk team is celebrating a state softball title.
Norfolk-based Kelly’s Softball won the 10-and-under state championship in Hastings over the weekend. The girls went six and one in their seven games, going unbeaten until losing to Ashland 9-3 in the first game of the championship round. But Kelly’s bounced back to take the double-elimination tournament with an 11-1 rout in the nightcap.
Coaches say pitching was the key, as Kelly’s hurlers struck out 69 batter and walked just 14 over their seven games.
The Kelly’s 10 and unders finish the season with a 34-9-2 record.
