Legion baseball roundup: Thunderstorms suspend play in Plattsmouth

PLATTSMOUTH – The Plattsmouth American Legion Baseball team will have a 3-1 advantage over Auburn with no outs and a man on third when play resumes on a future date. Thunderstorms Tuesday night suspended play at Plattsmouth High School.

Plattsmouth took their first lead in the third inning when Adam Eggert drove-in Connor Pohlmeier on an RBI triple. Eggert would score from third on the same play thanks to an Auburn error.

Two more errors from Auburn in the fourth inning scored Logan Blotzer.

Eggert has six strikeouts through four innings on the mound. His counterpart, Kyson Warner – making his summer pitching debut – has five strikeouts.

Liam Raison has scored the lone run for Auburn. He tripled in the second and scored on a wild pitch.

The two teams are working to schedule a date to finish the ballgame.

Elkhorn Mt. Michael captures early lead in victory over Nebraska City

NEBRASKA CITY – The ETC Knights (Elkhorn Mt. Michael) American Legion Baseball team grabbed an early 3-1 lead in the first two innings over Nebraska City, thanks to a walk by Ben DeMayo and the an RBI single from Sid DeMayo.

Eli Crnkovich gave up one run on three hits and struck out seven batters, and Mt. Michael didn’t look back in a 5-1 victory Tuesday night at Clemmy Holmes Field in Nebraska City.

Garrett Bassinger took the loss for the Post 8 Seniors. He lasted 2 2/3 innings, gave up two hits, three runs, stuck out four and walked seven.

A walk from Bryce Levy scratched across Nebraska City’s lone run in the bottom of the first.
