Lourdes, Weeping Water to tango for Class D1-3 sub-district championship

NEBRASKA CITY – The Lourdes Central Catholic girls basketball team will be looking for redemption against Weeping Water in the Class D1-3 sub-district championship game on Thursday night at Raymond Central High School. The Indians defeated the Knights on Jan. 20, 35-31.

Lourdes won their third-straight game Tuesday when they beat Omaha Christian Academy, 66-25, in the semi-finals. Weeping Water beat East Butler, 69-48.

The Knights have seem to have found their rhythm over the last month and to win Thursday, it comes down to one simple thing, according to head coach Clay Carlton.

“Ball has got to go in the hoop. Just doing the things that we’ve focused on all year. We’ve got to rebound the basketball, it’s going to come down to offensive boards and defensive boards. Taking care of the basketball and just competing really hard.”

Weeping Water and Nebraska City Lourdes will tip-off at 6 p.m. All the action can be heard live on KNCY 1600 AM, 105.5 FM and ncn21.com.
