Nebraska City wants to eliminate turnovers this week vs. Conestoga, Plattsmouth

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – The Nebraska City boys basketball team turned the ball over 20 times and got out rebounded, 28-14, in their 78-31 season-opening loss to Bennington on Friday.

Head Coach Matt Thompson says he is hoping to turn that around this week with games at Conestoga on Thursday and at Plattsmouth on Friday.

“I think we want to take better care of the ball. Going into a game we would like to keep our turnovers under ten.  If you always look at those factors, like turnovers and rebounding. We want to out rebound teams, we want to make more free throws than they make; and we want to take care of the ball. If we can do those three things, I think we’ll be alright.”

The Pioneers continue their five-game road trip to begin the season. On Thursday, they travel to Conestoga High School to play the 0-1 Cougars, followed by a trip to Plattsmouth the next day to play the Blue Devils.

Plattsmouth is 0-1 and had 11 turnovers in their season-opening game 52-30 loss vs. Norris. Luke Setlak led the Devils with 10 points.

The Nebraska City at Plattsmouth game will be carried on KNCY 1600 AM, 105.5 FM and ncn21.com. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
