COLUMBUS — The Northwest Vikings girls basketball team held Columbus Lakeview to just 11 points in the second half and won 49-30 on Friday night.
Lakeview (5-5) started the game strong and owned a three-point lead after one quarter. They were able to get the ball inside and force Northwest (7-3) into turnovers to own the momentum and tie the game at 19-19 heading to halftime.
But, Northwest owned the second half. They jumped to an eight-point lead by the end of the quarter and kept the pressure on down the stretch to win 49-30.
Whitney Brown led all scorers with 24 points for Northwest. Emily Stein added eight points while Taryn Mayfield collected six rebounds in the win.
Abby Kapels paced Lakeview with 11 points and eight rebounds. Gracie Borer scored six points while no other Lakeview player made more than one field goal.
