Plattsmouth relying on speed to find success on the court this season

PLATTSMOUTH, Neb. – The Plattsmouth boys basketball team finishes 2017 with six games this month and head coach Kevin Tilson hopes to get key wins and rhythm before they hit the new year.

The Blue Devils opened the season with a 52-30 loss at home vs. Norris last Friday.

Tilson says they worked on speed in the offseason, because the Devils average only 5’10” in their lineup.

“Being faster down the court down with the ball. Being a fast team was one of our main things we considered a priority going into this season. Looking at the summer, looking at the fall: we knew we had to be a faster team, because we aren’t going to be a real tall team, so we need to be a quick team down the court and make the defense be in a chaotic mode to keep them scrambling and to keep them up with us.”

In last year’s meeting with Nebraska City, Plattsmouth turned the ball over several times and allowed the Pioneers to take open shots.

The two teams meet Friday night at Plattsmouth High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., following the girls game. Both games will be carried on KNCY 1600 AM, 105.5 FM and
