St. Cecilia Outlasts Yutan to Reach Finals

LINCOLN — Mason Timm’s last-second shot rimmed out and Hastings St. Cecilia survived Yutan 39-36 to reach the State Championship game.

Yutan (25-2) got the ball with 5.7 seconds left and advanced past half-court before calling timeout with three seconds left.  They lobbed the in-bounds pass inside to Colton Feist who tapped the ball out to Timm.  He used one shot-fake and a dribble but left the open three-pointer short.

The Bluehawks (24-3) found Blane Boyd in the second half as the post player scored nine of his 11 points in the final two quarters.  Their defense did the rest, limiting Yutan to just 13 second-half points.

St. Cecilia advances to their third title game in the last four seasons.  The defeat was Yutan’s first loss since the season opener on November 30th.
