LINCOLN – Humphrey High School won two state volleyball titles.
Since consolidating volleyball programs with Lindsay Holy Family, the Bulldogs have been to the state tournament once. They lost in the first round in 2013.
The school will have an opportunity to claim a spot in the state championship when they play three-time defending champions Johnson-Brock (30-3) in the semifinals at Pinnacle Bank Arena Friday at 11 a.m.
No. 3 Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (28-4) advanced in the Class D1 bracket with a five-set thrilling win over No. 6 Diller-Odell, 19-25, 28-26, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11 (3-2), Thursday evening at Lincoln East High School.
Senior Taya Beller took over the match in the final set and finished with 28 kills. She also had two blocks.
Teammate, junior Allie Schneider had 51 assists and 2 ace serves for the 28-4 Bulldogs. Freshman Addison Schneider had 3 blocks.
Juniors Mackenzie Vitosh and Emily Swanson both sent down 19 kills for the Griffins. Vitosh added 5 blocks. Sophomore Addison Heidemann delivered 44 assists.
Diller-Odell ends the season with a 25-6 record.
