NEBRASKA CITY – The Nebraska City Legion Baseball team fought back from a 5-0 deficit and scored eight runs in the sixth inning to take an 8-5 lead, but Wahoo scored four runs in the top of the seventh and the Post 82 Seniors defeated Post 8, 9-8, Wednesday night at Clemmy Holmes Field.
Four-straight RBI singles from Max Chaney, Bryce Levy, Tyler Levy and Dylan Knoell, along with a two-run home run from Trent Fahey helped propel Nebraska City’s eight-run inning. Clay Stovall also drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Fahey scored twice in the inning and finished 1-2 at the plate.
An RBI double from Trey Ahrens and a single from Cameron Quick scored two runs in the seventh and Wahoo improved their record to 9-5 this season. Ahrens went 2-4 with two doubles and two runs scored.
Austin Scott was the winning pitcher despite giving up eight runs in the sixth inning. He finished with five strikeouts in six innings, while allowing nine hits. Quick tossed a scoreless seventh to earn the save.
Bryce Levy was charged with the loss. He relived Garrett Bassinger in the third inning and went 4.1 innings, gave up six runs on five hits, walking five and striking out one. Bassinger went two innings, giving up two runs on no hits, but allowed four walks and struck out three before exiting the game with arm fatigue.
The Post 8 Seniors drop to 5-8 and will be at Elmwood-Murdock-Nehawka on Thursday at 8 p.m. The game will air live on KNCY 1600 AM, 105.5 FM and ncn21.com.
