HARTINGTON – Winside has come a long way.
The Wildcats beat Hartington-Newcastle Friday to improve to 7-4. It’s a far cry from where they were when head coach Thomas Meyer took over the team four years ago.
The Wildcats were stuck in the middle of the second-longest losing streak in state history when Meyer started as coach, but now four years later a senior class that once went 0-21 as freshman now has postseason aspirations.
At 7-4, Winside is off to their best start in 11 years. They started the 2006-07 year 8-3, before finishing 14-6.
