Niebrugge and Cudney Earn Heart All-Conference Honorable Mention

PERU – Peru State women’s basketball players Abigail Niebrugge (Omaha) and Claire Cudney (Marysville, Kan.) earned honorable mention recognition as the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) announced its all-conference teams on Monday.

Niebrugge is a 5-7 senior guard while Cudney is a 5-9 freshman guard.

In conference game statistics only, each player is listed in several categories.

Niebrugge is ranked in several categories including: tied for tenth in steals per game (1.69), 14th in blocks per game (0.69), 15th in assists per game (2.69), and tied for 15th in total blocks (11).

Cudney is listed in the following categories: second in offensive rebounds per game (3.44),  fourth in total rebounds per game (8.69), sixth in total rebounds (139), eighth in defensive rebounds per game (5.25), tied for tenth in double doubles (4), 16th in blocks per game (0.62), 18th in points per game (12.88), 18th in steals per game (1.50), 20th in free throw percentage (.550), and tied for 18th in total blocks (10). In addition, Cudney was noted for having several of the season’s best performances in rebounding per game. She had the second-highest total of 18 against Baker (Kan.) on Valentine’s Day night.

In addition, the two are Peru State’s top scorers with Cudney leading the team with a 12.9 points per game average while Niebrugge finished at 12.2. Also, Cudney led the team in rebounding with 8.7 rebounds per contest while Niebrugge added 4.7.

Peru State will face MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) Tuesday night in Olathe, Kan., at 7 p.m. in the first round of the Heart post-season conference.
