PERU – The Bobcat softball team will open their season in Batesville, Arkansas, as participants in the Lyon College Tri-Match. On February 15, they will face the host (RV) Lyon College at 9 a.m. for their season opener followed by Lindenwood University-Belleville (Ill.) at 1 p.m. later that day. The team will then play these same two teams the next day on the 16th at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Peru State will also be participants in the Friends University Invitational on March 1 and 2 in Wichita, Kansas, as they will play five games in two days. On the first day of the Invitational, the Bobcats will face Bethel (Kan.) College at 12 p.m., (RV) Ottawa (Kan.) University at 2 p.m., and University of St. Mary (Kan.) at 6 p.m. On day two, they will wrap up the weekend by facing York College at 10 a.m. and McPherson (Kan.) College at 2 p.m.
On March 6 at 3 p.m., Peru State will go on the road to Hillsboro, Kansas, to play (RV) Tabor College. The following week on March 12, they will begin their Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) season in Baldwin City, Kansas, as they face (RV) Baker University at 2 p.m. This doubleheader will be the first of 18 conference doubleheaders for the season.
The Bobcats will be at home for the first time on March 17 in a non-conference doubleheader versus Hastings College at 1 p.m. The team will stay at home then for the follow games against Mount Mercy (Iowa) University on March 21 at 1 p.m., the first home Heart conference games of the season.
On March 24, Peru State will play conference foe #18 Central Methodist University on the road in Fayette, Missouri. They will follow that up with three straight dates at home: March 26 versus the reigning Heart of America Athletic Conference champion #21 Grand View (Iowa) University at 3 p.m., March 27 versus Clarke (Iowa) University at 3 p.m., and March 29 versus Evangel (Mo.) University at 1 p.m.
The Bobcats will then return home on April 2 to face Graceland (Iowa) University at 2 p.m. and then on April 5 against Mid-America Nazarene (Kan.) University. The following week, the Bobcats will host Culver-Stockton (Mo.) College at 1 p.m. for Senior Day on April 13. They will also host William Penn (Iowa) University the next day at 2 p.m.
Beginning on April 17th in Des Moines, Peru State travels to #21 Grand View University for a doubleheader which starts an eight-game road trip in the state of Iowa. That road trip will be wrapped up on April 24 as the Bobcats will play their final non-conference games of the season versus (RV) Morningside College at 3 p.m. in Sioux City.
The Bobcats will complete their regular season at home against Benedictine College on April 26 at 1 p.m.
The Heart conference tournament will then be seeded and begins play on April 30 as the two division play-in games will be hosted on each #4 seed’s campuses. The winners of those two games will travel with the other qualifying teams to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as Mount Mercy University will host the 2019 conference tournament.
Overall, the team is scheduled to play in 55 games this spring in the regular season. They hope to end their drought of reaching the conference tournament and find themselves playing the first week of May in Cedar Rapids.
