Islanders Roll Past #4 Kearney 46-0
The Islanders defeated Kearney 46-0 on Friday night.

GRAND ISLAND – It’s only one game, but that game couldn’t have gone much better for the Islanders.

Grand Island shutout No. 4 Kearney 46-0 on Friday night to open the season thanks to a well-rounded effort. The defense forced three turnovers, including two interceptions by Ace McKinnis. Cole Evans threw for 112 yards and two TDs by hitting Broc Douglass for a 34-yard score and Kyle Sextro on a 31-yarder. John Reilly ran for 48 yards and two TD’s while Caleb Francl added also found the end zone and rushed for 43 yards.

Grand Island heads to No. 8 Lincoln High on August 31st while Kearney hosts Lincoln North Star.
