Omaha South Shuts Out Islanders
Omaha South defeated Grand Island 4-0 on Thursday night.

OMAHA – Omaha South showed the Islanders why they are the top-ranked team in the state.

The Packers hosted Grand Island on Thursday night and defeated the Islanders 4-0 due to a solid all-around performance where they were ale to take advantage of some Islander mistakes.

South’s Omar Fregoso opened the scoring in the 4th minute of play with a shot from 20 yards out. The Packers doubled their lead in the 28th minute thanks to a 30-yard free kick from Mauricio Felix.

Up 2-0 at halftime the Fregoso struck again in the 51st minute with a skillful chip shot from outside the box. Ricky Barriga grabbed the last goal of the match in the 77th minute on a run through the box that he was able to slot in the far corner.

Omaha South hosts Omaha Central on Saturday while Grand Island hosts Lincoln Northeast. The match between the Islanders and Rockets will be broadcast on News Channel Nebraska and streamed online at NCNSportsNow.com.
